Elevator Companies preform the physical test for inspections, and Qualified Elevator Inspectors (QEI) witness the test. QEI inspectors become certified and maintain their licenses by furthering their education and stay up to date on vertical transportation standards.
Elevator companies need to make sure all parts are up to code so the inspectors can assess whether or not they are up to date for the safety and accessibility standards through the tests mechanics preform.
